Repairing the rotten window

The restored window

Having decorated the bedroom and the front porch, it was time to repair the rotten sash window. Over time, the water had not drained away from the sash window, so it had rotted the window and some of the frame.

This was treated, filled and decorated. In this instance we added a weatherbar to the window. Now, usually you wouldn’t add this to a sash window as it needs to slide past each other for decorating and cleaning. As it’s a ground floor window, they can be cleaned without a problem. However, the weatherbar can be easily removed as it is held on with sealant, making it easy to remove and re-attach as needed.
